Born in 1994, Paweł Malinowski is mainly interested in recreating previously existing musical material into different contexts, camp aesthetics and ordinary stories about daily life. 

 

He won Grand Prix during 58. Tadeusz Baird Young Composers Competition (2017) and in December 2017 he was awarded the prize of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland for the best students. In 2019, his piece Robotron was chosen to represent the Polish Radio during 66. International Rostrum of Composers. In the season 2020/21, he is working with London Philharmonic Orchestra as a part of the LPO Young Composers Programme. 

His works were performed during Sacrum Profanum (Cracow), Ferienkurse für Neue Musik (Darmstadt), “Wawel o zmierzchu” Festival (Cracow), Pulsar Festival (Copenhagen), Ostrava Days, Örebro Contemporary Music Festival, Musica Electronica Nova (Wroclaw) and others. 

 

He has been working with such ensembles as Airborne Extended, CORda Cracovia Orchestra, Friction Quartet, Hashtag Ensemble, Momenta Quartet, NJYD, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble and others.


Currently, he is doing PhD programme in composition under prof. Wojciech Widłak at Academy of Music Krakow. He graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Krakow (Masters) and he studied composition (MMus) under Juliana Hodkinson, Niels Rønsholdt and Simon Steen-Andersen at Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus.
