This music originated from simple improvised melodies and recordings of everyday musical sounds, such as whistling and singing. As with my previous pieces, these elements influence the instability and inner disintegration of the sounds. Recently, I have felt as though I am in a permanent liminal space, and these pure, naive musical elements are my escape from this situation. The looped structures recur and then suddenly disappear. Also, hissing, snippets of melodies and noise are embedded in the elusive parts of musical boxes and small cassette players. The title is a reference to the well-known Delmore Schwartz short story, as well as my memory of its theatre adaptation by Magda Szpecht, which I watched a few years ago. The image of "the long arm of light crossing the darkness and spinning" captures the vague reflections of family tales.
